Chief of Police

The Chief of Police is the highest-ranking officer in the Police Department. The Chief is appointed by the City Manager. As the manager of the Police Department, the Chief is responsible for the planning and efficient administration and operation of the Police Department. Lane Roberts is currently the Chief of Police for the Joplin Police Department and can be reached at ext. 402

• Former Chief of Twisp, Washington 7 years
• Former Chief of Union Gap, Washington 5 years
• Former Under-Sheriff of Yakima County, Washington 4 ½ years
• Former Chief of Redmond, Oregon 7 years
• Past Director of Deschutes County 911 service district, Deschutes County, Oregon
• Chief of Police for Joplin, Missouri since April 2007

EDUCATION

• Bachelors Degree in Business
• Masters Degree in Criminal Justice
• Graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy
• Graduate of the F.B.I. Law Enforcement Executive Development Series
• Holds Executive Certificates in Washington, Oregon, and Missouri
