Relay for a Cause Route 66
May 6, 2010
In honor of fallen officers, there will be two Evansville, Indiana police officers who are walking Route 66 to raise awareness and donations for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Fund, Inc. These two officers are walking through seven states on a 2250 mile journey to pay tribute to all fallen officers.
The Joplin Police Department is honored to assist these officers in their endeavors. On Friday May 7, they will make a stop in Joplin and end the current leg of the journey on the front steps of the Donald E Clark Justice Center. The estimated time of arrival will be at 2:00 PM. An email will be sent to the media as they approach the city limits, for those wishing to obtain video footage or photos.
The Residence Inn by Marriott has graciously donated a hotel room and breakfast for the officers to stay overnight. The Joplin Convention and Visitors Bureau have also provided a care package for the officers.
